My first project was a twitter light. This gadget lights up in different colours based on the results of a search on twitter. We demonstrated this at the “Fetons Linux” conference at HEPIA It consists of a small wooden box, with an 80mm plastic ball on top. The plastic ball was a cheap (6 CHF) LED light from Jumbo. Inside I have an arduino, a wifi shield from asynclabs and a BlinkM smart multicolour LED. This connects via wifi to my home network, and connects to a processing sketch to get the status from twitter.
